Cats and babies

Sorry I have not posted for so long! I have some exciting things in the crochet works... so maybe you will be seeing some very cool stuff soon.

I have been researching my family tree and in just 2 weeks have found 3 long lost cousins. It's great to reconnect with family. It made me dig through my photos and I wanted to share this one of me and my little brother.

It was when summer were endless and holidays were exciting and there were just so many wonderful opportunities. And how cute does my little brother look! Plain adorable.

This little guy, is made from the owlet pattern. All you do is reduce a little at the top and then sew the edges up, add a tail and some paws.

I think he is adorable and so fun to make - the yarn is Rowan Tapestry which makes a fab pattern!

Making peace with pink...

I have always had a horrible aversion to the colour pink, preferring blues and greens instead. I think it is a throwback to how pink is almost forced on little girls and the way girls and boys are distinguished by these colours. One minute it's a pink or blue bib and the next, boys play with trucks while girls pretend to iron clothes... I just think it is so unfair!

However, it turns out in Victorian times pink was de rigour for boys whilst blue was for girls, this little fact has made me feel a bit of affection for the colour... particularly when coupled with the palest blue, as this wee elephant demonstrates.

The most wondrous thing also arrived... A ice-cream maker! You just plug it in shove in some ingredient and hey presto - the most delicious ice cream you can possibly imagine. I am planning on making some strawberry or rhubarb clotted cream ice cream, and then my pink conversion will be complete!

In terms of practicality, I keep forgetting to bring my plastic bags to the supermarket, so I put the basic granny square to good use and came up with this little bag cubey thing. Not as cute as I would like but unrepentantly practical!
