I spent a snuggly afternoon crocheting another tree frog and writing up the pattern. I used the same new tutorial format to update some of the other tutorials too, and I will hopefully write up the pomeranian, kitten and hippo patterns soon, in the same way. I hope that they are easy to use, please let me know if there are any problems. So voila, enjoy!
I am really struggling to find something decent to read after finishing all the Amelia Peabody's... I have been picking books up and putting them down again for days. I think I really want to be transported instantly somewhere and its just not happening.
I read the House at Riverton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_House_at_Riverton and it was a beautiful book but somehow slightly forced. It felt very aware of itself and slightly hulking. I think I am going to try Possesion next...I am sure I will find something eventually.
It's Sunday tomorrow and, in Edinburgh, that means hordes of people will be rushing all over the city to visit flats from 2-4 during open viewings, and tomorrow I will be joining them. It is very strange experience when you end up at a few of the same flats as fellow hunters. You share a laugh, but all the while you know you may very well be facing them off in a biding war. The thing that astounds me is that, before I started looking to buy a flat, I would have never known that this Sunday afternoon frenzy was going on behind the seeming quietude of lazy, weekend Edinburgh.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write up the pattern! You really do a bunch of reading, huh? I have not buried my nose in a good book since the last Harry Potter came out. Does that count? Hehe.

That's fun that your name is Brie too! Mine is short for Briana and I have a food blog called www.figswithbri.com. Kind of a fun pun. I'm pretty sure I have all the necessary colors of yarn and eyes already, so it's just a matter of finding the time. Thanks again!

What an adorable frog. :)
If you haven't read them already, you could try the Marcus Didius Falco novels by Lindsey Davis. Wonderful hard-boiled detective novels, with backstabbing beaurocrats, femme fatales, and royal treachery and intrigue--but set in the Roman Empire under Vespasian. Very interesting how typical urban human behaviour hasn't changed much.
Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael novels are also wonderful. That mystery series is set in England in the late 12th century, and the main character is a monk and herbalist who fought in the Crusades before he came to the cowl.
A little more modern are the novels by Barbara Hambly set in New Orleans in the 1830s. The main character is Benjamin January, a free black man, French-trained physician, and pianist.
All the series capture the time period and the atmosphere of the area very well.

I made your frog with thread for two pre-teens and thought I would share. I used craft cording instead of pipe cleaners because of the tiny size. I LOVED your pattern-I'll have to make it normal size sometime.

I love the tree frog! What is the finished size? Also, as I haven't crocheted in a while, I may be missing out on something, but what is a "magic circle?"
