Somehow over the last year I have managed to acquire 2 cats and a kitten. I love them all dearly but the constant stream of dead and nearly dead animals they bring in the house is really quite trying. Having never had cats growing up I was completely unaware of this amazing wild quality they have. It seems like they choose to be with you , they choose to cuddle you and sometimes they choose to scratch you to pieces - so much emotion in an animal so small!
As ever that made me want to try to capture some of that cattiness in crochet - I haven't got very far just the head so far. It's slow progress but I want to get it just right.
I am trying to get the face shape right - the roundness of the back of the head and the delicate triangle finish on the front
It was important for me to get the nose right - This one is far too wide but I think I am getting a little closer.
I was also trying to get the eyes to sit deep within the head - I think it can look very toy like when the eyes seem to be sit on top of the creature rather than as an integral part.
This gives you a close up of the eye and also how the nose tip needs to make the bridge between the long section of the nose and the mouth.
She looks a little moody but that's cats for you!
Now just how to design the cats body! I have had several attempts already I am working on making a skeleton frame out of pipe-cleaners and padding then putting on the skin.
This realistic way of building a creature seems to be getting nearer to the result I am looking for.

OH, my you are sooo talented, I love your work, I've made like eight of your tree frogs... love them, and someone on craftsre said you had a book? I'd love to buy it, but I can't seem to find the name of it... but this cat is true mastery. I can't wait to see it done... and poosible buy the pattern... I love the look of cats but i don't have one, my dog wouldn't like that to much... lol. sorry for going on and on but your brillant:)

I love the eyes. They look so soulful. We have three cats and they are very different personalities. We don't let them out so we don't have to worry about the dead critter thing lol. They are wonderful pains in the rear and we've had our boys 11 years, our youngest just had her third birthday.
I love your work! Crochet is awesome, isn't it!

I am so in love with this cat, I just had to tell you; this is the fiftieth time I've dropped by just to LOOK at it..*sighs* I'm a proud mother of two adorable impossible kitten-girls, the rulers of my home and heart, and never before have I wanted to crochet a cat, but this.. This! You are truly an artist, a brilliant one. I'll just keep my fingers crossed hoping that eventually you start selling the pattern.. And I'll keep dropping by, smiling like a lunatic as always. Thank you for sharing her with us!
